Drinking with Skeletons

The Monthly Zest - September 2025

Autumn is finally here, even if the temperatures outside don't necessarily reflect it. Boston definitely comes alive a bit more this time of year and I've been super busy all month going to different festivals, fairs and shows.

I was basically at a festival every weekend - starting with the Somerville Rock n Roll Yard Sale where I picked up a few records, the famous Fluff Festival that maybe had too many people there (but I DID get my Gracie's fluff cone) and the Ignite festival that had tons of great food.

I think my favorite though was the Brighton Bazaar's Knight Carnival at the Speedway in Allston. My friends from pinball and I popped in before league one night to both get dinner at Third Time my beloved and found a mini ren faire happening. The best part though was an appearance from the North Horde which is a group that does armored combat and they had a ring set up in the middle of the courtyard. These guys were seriously beating the hell out of each other with real swords and stuff. It ruled and we got to see them again a few weeks later at the annual Allston street fair which was great. Honestly wanted to try it lol.

Besides fairs, I got to see a special 30th anniversary screening of my favorite movie Hackers at the Somerville Theatre AND got to see Haru Nemuri a SECOND time this year at a teeny tiny venue. The show was amazing, she and the crowd had tons of energy and I got to hear a bunch of my favorite tracks from her so that was really cool.

I won a pinball tournament too but I already wrote about that this month. Besides that I ate a bunch of good food, hung out with good friends and played a lot of Fortnite! New job is still going well too :)
