The Monthly Zest - July 2024
July was a pretty quiet month for me, not gonna lie. I'm moving in a couple weeks and had a really jam packed May and June so honestly, I was fine with chilling out for a bit lol.
Fourth of July weekend we got the crew together for a day at Salisbury Beach. Salisbury is a classic New England vibe; they got a little boardwalk with beach pizza, arcades and tons of bars. It's a short drive from Boston so I like to get up there every summer. The day we went was so hot and the water was absolutely freezing cold. Like 60 degrees cold. Probably the coldest I've ever been in! Still a great time though.
Pjackk from Tumblr spotted at the beach arcade??
I checked out a bunch of new spots around the city too! I'm definitely guilty of going to the same couple restaurants and bars over and over again so was definitely excited to visit some new places. Nathan, Connor and I got dinner one night at Lolita in Back Bay. The drinks were super good, tacos also good but expensiveeeeeeeeeee. They give you a big thing of cotton candy with pop rocks on it after your meal which was fun.
Shawn, Michelle and I also spent an evening at Crudo in the North End for sushi. You don't really think sushi when you think North End but the rolls were excellent and the appetizers were too. I got a lychee martini I'm still thinking about. We also hit up North End Creamery, a really dope spot called Libertine for a nightcap and the CLASSIC Bova's for some late night pastries (that totally prevented a hangover for me the next day lol).
I also cannot talk about the month of July without mentioning Evo! I'm a huge fighting game guy and I watch religiously every year (and have for over a decade at this point). The highlights for me this year were Hayao's absolutely insane Third Strike run as Hugo and the Street Fighter 6 Grand Finals between Punk and Big Bird. I spent the whole weekend watching (even made Tim and Dan watched when I visited them for dinner lmao) and it was super fun as always. Someday I'll go in person in compete... but for now I think I need to actually hit Master rank online before I even think about it.
I did hit plat though finally!
August is gonna be hella busy again so excited to write about it next month :)
