Drinking with Skeletons

12.29.2025

I do really love the week between Christmas and New Year's since it really does feel like everything stops and we all take a nap for a week. Granted I am "working" (from home) this week but there are so many people taking time off that we'll see what actually gets done.

Christmas was fine, it felt like I didn't do that much but looking back I kind of did a lot. Christmas Eve I worked a half day from my parents' house then got wings for lunch with Shawn and Max who I hadn't seen in a few years so that was really nice to reconnect. Max recently got back from Japan so I was dying to know how his trip was and the three of us made plans to play online games together after the holidays. Watched a couple movies with family that night then drove down to NJ on Christmas day to visit my dad's side of the family.

The drive was fine, just too much of it for how little time I spent down there. Visiting my dad's side of the family can get a little crazy for many reasons I won't go into on here but it was a nice relaxing time and I got to see a bunch of my cousins and catch up with my grandma. The highlight though was definitely visiting Quinn on Friday because I found out he lives like 15 minutes from my grandma and I finally got to see his new perfectly decorated apartment. Him and his roommate are big thrift store people and I definitely have some inspiration now for when I want to update my decor lol.

This week though I really just want to stay in. Besides my pinball venue's lowkey New Year's Eve celebration and seeing Marty Supreme finally on New Year's Day with Nathan and Michelle I have no plans and I want to keep it that way! I have a couple little projects I want to do around the apartment, namely rewiring my retro game setup, writing my year in review blog, cleaning out my iCloud photo library, hanging up some prints that I've been slacking on getting framed, picking away at my stack of books I need to finish... and playing a lot of video games too. We'll see what happens but after the last few busy weeks I think it's needed.
