10 more days till Christmas. This week I have to get a gift for my brother and grandmother and I have to figure out what kind of food I'm gonna make (or buy lol) for our annual Christmas party. My brother and I got our parents one of those big beach cart things but I might also get them a book each for their big Florida trip.
Last week besides my pinball league's finals I went to two additional pinball tournaments that I played slightly better at. The first was a charity tournament that was benefiting trans charities (specifically the Campaign for Southern Equality) and the second was a Howdy Partner tournament at my usual spot. Both very fun, we raised over $1000 at the charity tournament and Howdy Partner is the best pinball format so every time I get to play in one of those is a good time.
I was talking with a friend last night about how pinball isn't as fun to compete in compared to just playing for a laugh with your friends and I kind of agree? I like competing to an extent (I vastly prefer the more casual and fun formats my local spot does to the traditional pinball tournament rules) but I'm really just not at the level where I can be consistently doing well against some of the real heavy hitters in my area... plus the time and money required to be at that level is out of reach too. But I'll keep going because I love my hobbies and I love my pinball friends.
Other than that last week was pretty quiet. Watched a bunch of movies... Scarlet with Tim which was kind of disappointing but it at least looked pretty (plus it was in IMAX, something I haven't done in years), and my friends Caffrey and Michael hosted an IT double feature of the 2017 and the 2019 versions. The first chapter I liked a lot more than I thought I would, but the second chapter I thought was god awful lol. Marty Supreme is out next week too so I want to try and catch that.
Also it snowed finally yesterday. It'll be 45 and rainy later this week so I'm appreciating it while it lasts. Yesterday too Nathan and I trekked over to Allston for Korean tofu soup which has become a bit of a routine thing for me and some of my pinball friends. Truly nothing better than soup on a snowy day.
