Can't believe it's December already. This year flew by (I say this every year). I'm already thinking about a year end blog post because I'm the poster and this has been kind of an insane year for me so writing down how I feel about it will probably help me process it.
Thanksgiving at my parents' was really chill. We did our meal on Wednesday night because my brother was working on Thanksgiving day and played a few board games after. Thursday was pretty much spent snacking on appetizers and leftovers and watching on the couch. It was much needed to be honest. My parents had recently watched Twin Peaks seasons 1 and 2 on my recommendation so we talked about that and my mom was like "Oh we should watch Fire Walk With Me together." I was like Uhhh are you sure? They didn't really like it lmao. It's probably one of the worst ever movies you can watch with your parents. We watched Addams Family the next day.
Being at home this year was a little strange though. My parents' dog sadly died over the summer and my brother finally moved out a few months ago so the house felt pretty empty. They've talked about downsizing and selling the house a few times so we'll see if they actually do it in the next few years.
The rest of the year is gonna be hella busy though so I'll have a lot of fun stuff to write about at least. I went to a friend's 30th birthday party in Fitchburg last weekend too and it was really nice to see friends I don't get to see in person too often (but we all still do play video games together a lot lol).
Nathan and I did get our Christmas tree set up today though. Carrying it home is always hilarious but actually getting everything up was pretty easy.
I'm kind of Christmas pilled to be honest. I wouldn't have said that a few years ago because my family used to always make it into a huge, stressful thing but now that my parents have chilled out and I've been doing a lot more traditions with friends (doing a fancy meal with Boston friends before we all go visit our families, hosting a Christmas party at our place every year, whatever wacky stuff my pinball community does) I get excited for it every year now.
I really do just love having a tree in the apartment though. The lighting we get off it is perfect and it just smells so damn good! Should probably get some nice new ornaments though... I have a few fun kitschy ones (the Master Chief one I got this year fell a couple times and had to have superglue surgery LOL) but I'd really like to get some nice glass ones. Might have to do some thrift shop combing around.
Finally I'm getting the official news on my work contract this week so hopefully it's good news. My boss was talking to me about it today and I didn't tell him that my staffing company told me they were extending it. He seemed like he still didn't know but also made it seem like it was more that the team was trying to figure out how long they can keep me for. So hopefully its an official yes and a nice long extension. But just in case I have a screening for a fancy Senior PM job on Friday so we'll see how that pans out. Then I think I can stop writing about work on here so much lmao.
