Halloween in the part of the city I live in is really something great. Last night I ran out at around 6:30 to pick up a quick dinner and grab some booze for a friend's party and there were tons of trick or treaters out and adults in costumes heading to parties like I was. People go really hard with decorations too which is also really fun to see. I just really love halloween! I love fall, I love skeletons and scary stuff, I love seeing costumes and I fucking love candy lmao.
I watched Rocky Horror for the first time last night at my friend's party and I loved it. I get it now. Probably should have watched it as a teenager but to be fair I wasn't really a big movie guy until a few years ago. I'll have to go to a live showing of it one of these days. Also saw the new GDT Frankenstein adaptation last weekend which I really loved. I hope he does more classic monster movies.
Tickets to FFXIV fanfest were announced this week. It's in Anaheim (lol) and its $250 for the weekend (also lol). It's one of those things where I'm not interested enough in Final Fantasy anymore to want to spend all that money to go BUT I'm sure many of my friends will be there and I would like to see them. Shame they can't have these in Boston or New York or whatever so I can zip down for a day or two.
It's hard to get excited about anything FFXIV anymore. I haven't played it in almost a full year, which if you told me that 2 or 3 years ago I probably wouldn't have believed you. Crazy! There was a live letter the other day where they were showing off a lot of QOL updates that felt like a "in case of emergency break glass" moment for the game which is good but not enough to bring me back.
Finally I downloaded this new budgeting app called Copilot that Nathan recommended to me. I spent way too much money on eating out last month and I gotta dial it back. I also subscribe a little too much to the treat mentality and I think I gotta cut that down too. I've been good about saving money every month since I got my new job so I want to keep the momentum going!
I'm working on another long-form post about the new Skate game and live service stuff so look forward to that and also I gotta do my monthly zest post this weekend because I had a super fun and busy October. Definitely looking forward to having a quiet weekend in and getting some reading and writing done!
