Drinking with Skeletons

Writing my weeknotes two days late the week SOWWY. I was sick last week so I didn't really do anything. It was kind of nice though because despite being really busy with fun things all the time the combination of that and being driven slowly insane at work was making me feel really burnt out so a week with no plans (besides working from home) was exactly what I needed. Spent a lot of time in bed looking at my phone but in a positive healing way.

Saturday though I was feeling back to normal which was just in time for a housewarming/early Halloween get-together at my friends Mariessa and Jeff's new apartment. They moved a little further out of the city but thankfully it was a very easy drive and they live in a cute neighborhood and have a great and very well decorated apartment! Mariessa is a big crafter so we made little pumpkins and coffins which was fun. Jeff and I were talking about Hellraiser since that was one of the movies I watched while I was sick so he lent me his copy of the book that it was based off (also by Clive Barker - the Hellbound Heart). I've been reading it on my commutes to work this week to get into the Halloween vibe and I've been really enjoying it.

Sunday was really gorgeous out so I ended up spending a lot of time outdoors, meeting up with friends for lunch and ice cream after a morning at the gym and went on a long walk afterwards. Stopped at the library to pick up a copy of Star Wars Galactic Racer which is really fun and has a really good lineup of glup shittos too. Very hard game though I have to play it more. Then that night Amber and I went to Spirit Halloween to get a halloween costume and it was unsurprisingly insane in there (think screaming children and pissed off parents). Pretty typical selection of topical and classic costumes and accessories. They had a very large steam punk section too for some reason I didn't realize people were still into that. Anyway I got a pretty basic Dr. Doom costume (just the mask and cape) that will be fun to wear tomorrow and this weekend to various Halloween events so I'm looking forward to that.

I'll cheat and write what I did on monday this week too which was finally seeing You Can See Everything. Probably the best movie of the year? Just really thought provoking... I won't spoil too much on this blog in case anyone reading it hasn't seen but going in I didn't really know too much about Elizabeth Holmes besides tumblr posts making fun of her and theranos but there is soooo much more in the movie that goes beyond her and gets pretty deep into the ideas of manipulation and how the media can impact public narratives of things. Definitely worth a watch!!! And I just love Nathan Fielder so it's a no brainer.
