Drinking with Skeletons

10.19.2026 (One year of weeknotes!!!)

This post (give or take a day or two) will be one full year of me doing weeknotes! Crazy! I'll put my thoughts about weeknotes at the end of this post because I want to write about the fun stuff I did last week first.

Two of my good friends Dan and Tayla got married in Newport this past weekend!! I was one of Dan's groomsmen and my friend Tim was his best man. Picked up my tux on Thursday and drove down to Newport the next morning for the rehearsal and the friends and family dinner. Hadn't been to Newport in at least a decade, weather kind of sucked Friday but cleared up Saturday just in time for the ceremony. The wedding was at one of the vineyards and it was super nice, great wine too! The ceremony was outside and it was very cold but thankfully we only had to sit out there for 15 minutes. Nice to see friends at the reception, everyone gave shockingly good speeches and we ate a lot of good food. Poor Tim was still injured from earlier this year and didn't want to dance so we spent a lot of time catching up with some of Dan and Tayla's friends instead. So much fun, so happy for the couple (and JEALOUS they're going to Japan today for 3 weeks). Just took way less pics than I expected but that's what the wedding photogs are for after all. Now I just have to shake this cold I got over the weekend...

I started applying for new jobs last week too. Spent some time updating my resume and Linkedin and threw out a few applications so far but I gotta do more this week. A friend at the wedding told me to apply at his company too so we'll see what's available there. It's just hard finding the drive to do job applications after sitting at work for a full day but I gotta keep em rolling!!! Definitely want something full time for next year but would consider another contract for the right price.

Also saw Street Fighter the movie with friends! It kinda sucked! But also I fully expected it to be bad. I had a glimmer of hope a few weeks ago when I learned that the director ALSO directed every episode of Eric Andre Show and thought wow what if the Street Fighter movie was actually good? It was definitely in the "bad but fun to watch" category but they did at least attempt to make a Street Fighter movie: the casting was good for the most part, I loved the animated flashbacks and it was sometimes funny and had decent fight scenes. The rest of it just felt so unfinished though? No real plot and no real ending that sets up a sequel that probably won't happen. It got kind of excruciatingly long by the end too it didn't need to be 2 hours. Also my bestest boy Zangief had less than 5 minutes of screen time smh. Fun time at the movies with friends though. Should have watched that Elizabeth Holmes doc instead.

But yeah weeknotes! It's been a full year! I didn't hit every single monday but I at least got out one post a week. Knowing that a few friends actually read these is nice too and is a good motivator (plus I like reading their weeknotes too). I like this format much better than the monthly posts I was doing because it's easier to remember what I was doing for a week versus a full month. And it is so fun to go back and reread all my posts too. I like to write! Will definitely keep this going but I do want to do like.. normal blog posts too again. Just hard to find the time these days! Thanks for reading :)
