Drinking with Skeletons

09.08.2026

I was in Denver for much of last week for my friend's bachelor trip and got back last night at around 12:30 AM and had to work today so it's been a bit of a rough one. Trip had a lot of ups and downs but was generally a good time Denver is a cool city and I want to go back in the winter for some snowboarding sometime (and when it's not 90 degrees every single day!!)

We got in on Thursday, checked into our airbnb and got dinner at Casa Bonita. Whenever I mentioned to my friends I was going to Denver they were all like "omg are you going to casa bonita?" so I was excited to check it out with my friends. And it was very fun if a little overhyped. The food wasn't bad, the drinks were boozy and the entertainment was entertaining. You get to eat at your table for an hour then you can explore the restaurant. We watched the cliff diving show, played some pinball, went through a little haunted cavern thing and got some merch. Definitely an experience but I don't know if I'd go again.

Friday was our Red Rocks day. This is what I was most excited to do and was my favorite part of the trip. We got there early before it really got hot out and did a hike on one of the trails around the park that ended at the amphitheater. It was so gorgeous and despite the heat was a perfect day for hiking. Truly incredible looking rock structures. I was still getting used to the altitude at this point so the hike was harder than anticipated but was worth it. Afterwards we stopped in Golden for lunch and to walk through the downtown (couldn't get a tour of the Coors factory sadly) then we wrapped up dinner at Guard and Grace steakhouse which was super good and I had some really good wagyu.

Saturday was when things started to get dicey. Our airbnb's air conditioner was barely working and it was making it very hard to sleep at night. We ended up ditching it early and getting a hotel nearby which was definitely the right call. Also one of my friends on the trip had a gym injury and came along anyway, but by this point it was really starting to hurt him so he put himself on bedrest for the rest of the trip which was a huge bummer and he was not happy about it. That left me with the groom-to-be and 3 of his friends which I really didn't know that well so the vibes weren't all there. We spent the day pretty much just drinking throughout the city which was whatever.

Sunday was our last full day. We went to a Rockies game which was fun even though they kinda suck LMAO. It's interesting being in a ballpark that is relatively new because I'm so used to old ass Fenway Park. We found a spot in the shade to watch and got ice cream afterwards. Drove to Boulder for dinner and walked through downtown - super cute little town and I wish we had stayed there longer. Wrapped up the night at Akihabara arcade bar which was a ton of fun, had all my favorite fighting games and the group was very pleased they had DDR and we played a bunch of that.

Flew back late Monday after stopping at In-n-out for lunch (which I didn't realize they even had in Colorado). Was a decent trip in the end even if it was dicey at times. Hope to go back to Denver soon and visit some friends in the area (and have a more planned out itinerary too but so it goes)! That was pretty much it for the week besides work and playing video games lol. I'll update this post with photos tomorrow but right now I am ready to get some real sleep.
