Drinking with Skeletons

08.17.2026

Hi it's 10pm it's Monday I'm gonna get this blog out before I go to bed. Another busy week (I could probably start almost every post with that). Monday I did get my Switch 2 about 30 minutes after I hit post on last week's blog. I like it so far. I'll probably write a longer post about it once I play it more but it's a very well built handheld, it feels better in my hands than the Switch 1 and I really like Mario Kart World and its crazy fusion jazz soundtrack. Also monday a bunch of my friends and I started a Big Walk playthrough - SUPER fun, really a joy to be able to play a cooperative video game with so many friends at the same time that's not an MMO. It's been a great little social thing and it'll probably take us a few months to finish at the pace we're going but it's all about the journey right?!?!

I've been slowly working through my list of things to sell on marketplace and this week I was able to sell a bunch of my FF14 merch. It really feels like the end of an era if I'm getting rid of my merch LOL. I'm keeping some: my Shadowbringers artbooks, a few soundtracks (including one signed by Soken himself), my Endwalker collectors box and my big Namazu plushie. Most of what was sold was my big artbooks that were nice but I'd probably never read again so now my bookshelf is looking a little empty. Time to fill it back up!

Pinball this week was howdy partner and this time I got to be a team captain so that was kinda fun. It's a great format if a little too long but my team ended up solidly in the middle and they were fun to play with so that's a win in my book.

Big thing last week was Nathan and I finally went up to Portland ME to visit our friends Delton and Jess. We ended up taking the Amtrak, they're redoing our driveway and long story short my car is stuck in the garage. But honestly I kind of preferred it... minus the extremely unreliable green line to actually get us to north station the ride was so smooth and it was nice not having to drive!! Plus I think it was a little cheaper than having to fill up the gas tank twice so another win.

The first day we explored the city, stopped at Bard Coffee, Sherman's books, a few clothing stores and little gift shops. Got a really good cocktail at Hardshore and dinner at Izakaya Minato (which I had been to last year when I got to visit Delton and Jess). Closed out the night at Arcadia which my pinball friends had been hyping up. Very cool spot, was surprised at how good the vibes were for a barcade. Well designed spot and it wasn't nerdy! They had DDR in the basement which was great and a bunch of pinball games I liked.

The next day we did a trifecta for breakfast - Holy Donut, Speckled Ax for coffee and Rose Foods for bagel sandwiches. All were amazing, I really fw the potato donuts they do in Maine. They have a really nice consistency to them and the fruity flavors we got were so good. Hung out outside for a long time at this trail near a river which was such a vibe, Delton brought their hand drum and some tea and we just hung out for a long time dipping our feet in the water. Lowkey fixed me and the dinner we got at Crispy Gai afterwards was even better. Picked up a few comics at Casablanca for the train ride home and slept very good that night. I love Maine!! Need to get out of the city more but its hard when every weekend I get booked lol.

Only link I have this week is the John Romero autobiography Doom Guy which is quite good and you guys know I love my boomer shooters and biographies. Here's some Maine pics.
