Mondayyyy. I did some stuff last week and have some things to write about. The world cup is over! I didn't really watch it that much but I had fun watching the handful of games I caught over the last month. I am going to miss the excitement in Boston though!! It really felt like a huge mood booster for the whole city and I think everyone remembered we're allowed to have fun and be happy for a change. Hopefully some of the stuff local govs did like expand public outdoor drinking stays in place...
Honestly a lot of last week was pretty chill for me. Busy at work, kinda crappy weather. Actually very crappy weather. We got hit pretty bad a few days with wildfire smoke from Canada. Saturday I made the mistake of going out a couple times not realizing how bad it was and ugh. Thursday it cleared enough for me to go to pinball and I guess I was desperate enough for social interaction that I stayed until midnight and only played a handful of games.
Friday I got inspired to stream on twitch again and played Street Fighter 6 ranked for an hour. Sadly my mic wasn't picking up my voice and I had no chatters so no one told me LOL but I actually did do pretty good in my matches despite not having played ranked in months. Except for my one Dee Jay game where I guess I completely forgot how to play him because I've been too focused on Zangief for a while. Maybe I'll stream again this week.
Saturday I went on a date with a new guy since things cooled off with my previous suitor (not a bad thing!). He was cool, we got bahn mi and talked for two hours. We did talk about FF14 and I feel like the gay guy scene in that game is so small that eventually I'm going to run into someone irl that recognizes me from that game which scares me. Was a good time though. Then that night my friends and I had our first DnD session!! I rarely get to play tabletop games so I kind of jumped when my friend was like I wanna dm a game do you want to play? We're doing a Mythic Odysseys of Theros campaign which is very Greek myths vibes so it's up my alley. My character is a satyr bard, I wanted to mix it up because I usually play orcs or goliaths that hit things really hard... should be fun. The group I'm with is good at getting into character and being funny so I think we're going to have a good time.
Sunday was MIT flea - this time buying instead of selling. All my niche things that I failed to sell at the last flea are finally starting to sell on ebay or facebook marketplace. And I won a little bit of money playing pinball last weekend so I splurged. Got two records, a mars attacks comic book, couple video games (mario 64 and a copy of halo 5 I lowballed for a dollar) and a Bane figure from batman the 90s cartoon. The powermac I've been eyeing has been steadily coming down in price so I might have a fun retro computer at the end of the summer we'll see.
Uhh besides that I played a lot of Doom - been working through the whole series. I made the decision to shelve Doom 3 because I really was not having fun with it. Maybe I'll write a post or two about it.
