Drinking with Skeletons

06.08.2026

Hii happy monday. I'm working from home today because I've been sleeping pretty bad the last few days! It's hot all the time now and it's also been extremely dry and extremely polleny so my allergies have been attacking me for the last few weeks. So it goes. At least it's not humid (yet)! On the positive side though it is nice being in the office on warm sunny days because it's perfect for taking little waterfront walks on my lunch break.

Outside

Yesterday we hosted another Halo 3 LAN party which was very fun. Some of my friends that couldn't make the last one were able to make this one which was nice and we had a lot of people in the apartment again. I wanted to get another custom trophy but the shipping was kind of insane this time so instead the trophy was a Master Chief figure I found on ebay, two white Monsters and a pre-roll. I went to the dispensary the morning of and asked the guy at the counter for recommendations and he was like Our most popular one right now is called Alien Kush which 1. lmao and 2. kind of fits the theme perfectly. Smoking that shit that makes you the Arbiter or something.

Halo

It was a lot of fun, I think next time though I want to try and run Halo MCC so we can do all the silly custom maps that you can't do on 360 Halo 3 anymore and it would make more people want to play. Sourcing Xbox Ones though I think might be a little too expensive but maybe I can get some good lowballs on facebook marketplace. Also honestly as much as I love Halo it was cool when we all kinda split off to play a bunch of different stuff - Videoball in one room, Rivals of Aether 2 in another, Call of Duty on one tv, Street Fighter 6 on a different one. That to me feels more like a game night. Shame there's not many other games that do LAN as well as Halo!!

Saw Covet on Friday, lots of fun. Both openers were quite good even if it meant the show ran a little too long for my liking. She hasn't really released music since the last time we saw her in 2023 (and she had another new band on stage lol) but she played the hits and sounded pretty good for the most part. Really interesting crowd too. I should probably not focus so much of my energy on complaining about concert crowds I go to but unfortunately its hard not to when you see guys on their phones the whole time posting on r/ObscureMusic or buying trading cards while there's a band on stage performing. Math rock am I right? We went to this restaurant beforehand that was local seafood but served counter style which SEEMED good but we got there and it was absolutely like insane millennial restaurant vibes and it was just okay. Won't be going back.

Thursday was pinball league, I got a perfect score that week (won all 4 of my games) for the first time ever which was really cool and will probably never happen again. Brought a few friends down to check it out and they all had fun and played pretty well so the pinball indoctrination has been working. Also kind of dying to go birdwatching again after last weekend but we'll see when.

One last rant it's annoying as hell that Apple doesn't offer an iCloud subscription that's in between the 200gb/$3 per month that I'm currently paying and the 2TB/$9 per month that they want me to upgrade to since I keep running out of space. Let me pay $5 for a TB or something because I really don't want to spend days cleaning out my library. Or maybe I should do it anyway and get rid of the 1000000 memes I saved once and never looked at again.
