Happy Wednesday from Ireland. I’m writing this from our Airbnb in Gort. Today is our laundry and rest day which I guess I really needed… I went to bed around 11pm last night and kept sleeping on and off till 1pm the next day lol… to be fair we have been doing a ton of driving and walking.
Anyway I really like it here. It’s gorgeous. Every new place we go is prettier than the last. We’ve also lucked out so much with the weather too so far, it’s been sunny and warm every day. Although now that I write this I check the forecast and it’s gonna rain for the last few days we’re here but whatever. I’ll do a more formal post when I’m back home and have an actual keyboard and not my ancient iPad but here’s some random thoughts for now:
- The jet lag getting here was worse than Tokyo!! We did an overnight flight and landed at 8am and couldn’t get into our hotel room in Wexford until 3. I felt like a husk.
- I love all the colorful buildings in the towns and the architecture
- The Irish countryside is so beautiful and this is easily the greenest place I’ve ever been. It’s a nice contrast from the city.
- Speaking of cities we skipped Dublin because this is mostly a family visiting trip so I’ll have to go there next time with friends
- I met a bunch of extended family in Wexford which was really cool
- The Dingle peninsula is probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever been
- My brother’s driving here is a little scary
- I am a little sick of being in the car so much though
- It is fun to see so many sheep and cows on the side of the road everywhere
- I bought a nice scarf that I’m excited to use in the winter
- Favorite meal so far has been a really really good fish and chips with a Guinness by the coast
More to come next week! With photos. I have soooo many photos.
